Abstract

In this interview, the coordinators of the collection Political Parties and Movements in Uruguay discuss
their motivations for creating a collective work on these political configurations over two centuries,
separating them as much as possible from the histories of government and the state. José Rilla and Jaime Yaffé
share the broad perspective underlying the work, the challenges and problems involved in selecting authors,
and the themes contained in the four volumes, which address Blancos, Colorados, Izquierdas, and cross-cutting
issues, in an account that is as entertaining as it is analytical. The text is accompanied by a presentation
of the work and an assessment of some of the collection's achievements, written by the interviewer.
